Rob Heginbotham – Sales & Marketing Director

Rob Heginbotham joined the company as Sales and Marketing Director in August 2004, following a period of consulting in key areas to the business.

Rob graduated with an honours degree in Law from Cambridge, where he also gained a Rugby Blue. Following a short period with the management consultancy division of Deloitte Haskins & Sells, in 1987 Rob joined Tie Rack, initially in the role of Finance Executive. After nearly three years in New York as commercial manager of the group’s North American operations, he returned to London and was appointed Group Buying and Planning Director in 1991.

Rob remained at Tie Rack until late 1999 when he founded Long Reach International (LRI) Ltd. a specialist sports finance and risk management boutique with three other partners. He was involved in developing specialist financial and credit risk solutions for a wide variety of sports organisations and governing bodies, including the Athens Olympics, the PGA (The Ryder Cup) and the ICC (Cricket World Cup).

Rob left LRI in 2003, although he retains an equity stake in the business, and spent a period of time consulting to both Richards Gray and several sports organisations, including acting as Director of Rugby of Henley Hawks.

In one sense, joining Richards Gray full-time has seen him finally put his time in the library at Cambridge to some relevant use, although his experience of international retail is equally important in relation to developing marketing strategy, products and most importantly, customer service.

Away from Richards Gray, Rob has remained involved with managing Henley Rugby Club on a voluntary basis, is a keen but erratic golfer, enjoys an agricultural approach to cricket, and is rapidly learning the meaning of ‘scope’ and ‘range’ in the equine world. He also finds a few hands of Bridge both stimulating and relaxing, and buys 3 national papers a day, solely for the bridge puzzles!
