Richards Gray was founded in 1988 by Mike Richards and John Gray.  Mike Richards is still actively involved in the business as Managing Director.

We carry out 500,000 searches a year for over 4000 major clients and as such are leaders in the field of national property search organisations. Innovation has been at the heart of our growth in recent years and the company developed and owns the ground breaking Know Your Neighbour Report. We also pioneered the concept of search packages for the conveyancing industry, the Richards Gray Conveyancing Pack (RGCP) and have developed an award winning and state of the art online ordering system.

Further expansion has come with the introduction of Home Information Packs (HIPS) and having fully participated in the trials, we are now a leading provider with our integrated and flexible HIP solution. We have in place the resources to provide a complete HIP, both the required and authorised elements, but can readily adapt to include the use of existing local contacts and established commercial relationships.

Our growth has been supported by an expanding and developing organisation, facilities and state of the art systems. The company now employs over 250 people, with 80 Agents, based throughout the country, from Newcastle to Penzance. We can thus deliver the powerful combination of national standards, real experience and local knowledge to our clients.

We are founder members of the Council of Property Search Organisations (COPSO), the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP) and the Property Codes Compliance Board (PCCB) and in this way fully support the best industry standards. Richards Gray has £8 million Personal Indemnity cover on all searches and an additional £2 million Information Accuracy Indemnity on Local Authority searches to protect your business and reputation.

For the future, we intend to expand our product portfolio further and truly become an integrated property information and service provider.
